Finding the Self beyond the light

I am a forest, and a night of dark trees: but he who is not afraid
of my darkness, will find banks full of roses under my cypresses.
Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra

Darkroom retreats have been used by numerous spiritual traditions throughout the centuries as a higher-level practice. The aspirant enters a room specially prepared to admit absolutely no light and spends a number of days under this sensory deprivation in order to bring about a profound shift of consciousness.

Research has shown that in prolonged darkness a biochemical shift in the brain is causing extraordinary molecules like DMT to be synthesized, which bring about altered states of perception, allowing for accelerated evolution towards the Revelation of the Self and a Consciousness of Oneness.

Grand Master of the Tao Mantak Chia is offering extensive background information on his website, some of which you will also find on the following pages. Apart from the taoist knowledge we offer yogic guidance to navigate this amazing experience, which is called Kaya Kalpa in traditional yoga.

Besides the spiritual approach darkrooms also have a profound therapeutic effect for various disorders. More information on our page The Science.

We suggest starting with 2-7 days, yet often aspirants return for retreats of 14, 30, or 49 days as the effects of dark retreats are accumulative.

Prices start from €108 per night including two meals. There are discounts for longer durations.
